Claim ABSTUDY for 2022 now

4 November 2021

Submit an ABSTUDY claim before December to make sure your child is ready to start school on time.

ABSTUDY is a group of payments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and apprentices. It helps with the costs of studying from the start of high school through to university.

If your child is starting high school in 2022, now is the time to claim. This is especially important if they are moving away from home to study.

Once we approve your claim, we can organise travel for your child and their travelling companion for the start of school. ABSTUDY can also help with their school fees, boarding costs and other school items.

If your child is under 16, you can claim for them. If your child is 16 or older, or if they’re independent, they can claim themselves.

To claim, call the ABSTUDY line.
