Check if you must take part in ParentsNext from 1 July 2021
15 June 2021
If you’re getting Parenting Payment, you may need to take part in ParentsNext.
The eligibility rules for ParentsNext change on 1 July.
If you meet the new rules for ParentNext, you must take part in the program.
If you don’t take part, your payment may reduce or stop.
We’ll make an appointment to talk with you about ParentsNext and refer you to a provider.
However, if you’re studying or on unpaid leave, you may not need to take part in ParentsNext from 1 July.
You also won’t need to take part if you meet both of these conditions:
- you completed Year 12 or an equivalent level of education or higher
- you got income support from us for less than 4 years.
If you’re studying or on unpaid leave, you’ll need to give us evidence. We’ll assess your evidence and let you know if you need to participate.
