Changes to Parental Leave Pay and Dad and Partner Pay work test
23 September 2021
You can now include periods you got the COVID-19 Disaster Payment in the work test.
You may now be eligible for Parental Leave Pay or Dad and Partner Pay if your work was affected by COVID-19.
You can include periods you were getting COVID-19 Disaster Payments in the work test, going back to 3 June 2021.
You still need to meet the other work test requirements.
If you think you’re eligible, you should claim and include periods of COVID-19 Disaster Payment in your work test.
When you claim
If you got COVID-19 Disaster Payment, you can count whichever of the following is greater in the work test:
- 7.6 hours for each weekday in the period, not including weekends
- the number of hours actually worked each day, including weekends
- the number of hours of paid leave each day.
When you claim online you’ll need to add up your hours of work and other activities that count as work.
Read more about changes if you get family payments.
