Cashless Debit Card extension

On 10 December 2020, legislation passed with changes to Income Management and Cashless Debit Card programs.
The Cashless Debit Card will:
- continue for a further two years in existing locations until 31 December 2022
- be introduced in the Northern Territory and Cape York, Queensland from March 2021 and continue until 31 December 2022.
For Income Management customers in the Northern Territory, this means:
- Income Management will continue
- from March 2021, they can volunteer to transition from Income Management to the Cashless Debit Card.
There is also an option for customers in the Northern Territory getting an income support payment who aren’t on Income Management. They can volunteer for the Cashless Debit Card from March 2021.
Income Management customers in Cape York, Queensland will transition to the Cashless Debit Card from March 2021.
You don’t need to do anything now. We’ll have more information about these changes closer to March 2021.
