Back to school immunisation and health check reminder
21 January 2021
Your child must meet certain health requirements to keep getting Family Tax Benefit and Child Care Subsidy.

Before your child goes back to school, they may require a health check or need to be immunised. This can affect your Family Tax Benefit (FTB) and Child Care Subsidy (CCS).
Immunisations requirements
If your child doesn’t meet the immunisation requirements, your FTB Part A can reduce by up to $29.40 per fortnight. Your CCS may also stop.
If your child requires an immunisation, speak to your vaccination provider. For example, your GP or community health clinic. They’ll then update the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) once your child is immunised. This is so your payments don’t reduce or stop.
Healthy Start for School requirements
If your child needs a health check, we'll send you a letter through your myGov Inbox or by mail.
Your child needs to have their health check by their 5th birthday. If they don’t do this your FTB Part A may reduce by up to $29.40 per fortnight. This will continue for up to 26 fortnights.
