The assets test exemption is ending soon for some payments
14 August 2020
The assets test exemption for some payments will end on 24 September 2020.
As part of our coronavirus (COVID-19) response, we temporarily removed the assets test for these payments:
- JobSeeker Payment
- Parenting Payment
- Youth Allowance
This assets test waiver will end on 24 September 2020.
You will not be eligible for payment if you update your assets and they’re over the allowable limit. This amount depends on your situation and the type of payment you get.
We’ll send you an SMS soon as a reminder to update your assets, and again in September.
If you can’t update online, you can also update your assets by calling your regular payment line.
Changes to your income and assets may affect your payments from us. Tell us about any changes within 14 days so we can pay you the right amount.

We'll SMS you to ask you to update your assets. If you don’t do this before 25 September, we’ll stop your payment.
If you get an income support payment from us, we’ll assess your income and assets differently after 25 September 2020.
