External Breast Prostheses Reimbursement Program

Help with the cost of an external breast prosthesis after breast cancer surgery. You can get up to a maximum of $400 for each prosthesis.

To get this you must:

  • be enrolled in Medicare
  • have had breast surgery as a result of breast cancer
  • not have purchased and already claimed under this program in the past 2 years.

You’ll be reimbursed if you’ve had breast surgery as a result of breast cancer. This includes:

  • full mastectomies
  • prophylactic mastectomies - preventative surgery
  • partial mastectomies
  • lumpectomies.

You can also get an additional rebate of up to $400 for post-surgery breast prosthesis for swimming. These prosthesis must be designed specifically to wear during water activities.
