Don’t let your Youth Allowance or ABSTUDY stop

Published: 12 September 2023

It’s the time of year when we need your parents’ income details. Make sure they provide them so we don’t stop your payment.

If you get Youth Allowance or ABSTUDY as a dependent, we might send you a letter asking for your parents’ income details. We need to know these so we can pay you the right payment and the right amount.

Your parents need to tell us their income by the date in your letter. They can do this by either:

  • going online using the information in the letter
  • calling us on your regular payment line.

If they don’t provide their income details by the date in the letter, we’ll stop your payment until they do.

If your parents haven’t done their tax yet they can give us an estimate. If you don’t get a letter, you don’t need to do anything. We have the information we need.

Tell your parents to update their parental income today.
