Are you self-isolating due to COVID-19 or caring for someone who is?

11 January 2022

There are changes which will affect you if you’re claiming Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment from 10 January 2022.

From Monday 10 January 2022, you no longer need to be personally directed to isolate by a health official to be eligible. You do have to be self-isolating, quarantining or caring for someone who is self-isolating or quarantining for approved reasons to meet the payment rules.

To meet the close contact rule, you have to be informed by a health official that you or the person you’re caring for is a close contact.

For isolation periods starting 10 January 2022, we’ll accept both Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) results. You’ll need to have either:

  • advice of a positive test from a testing clinic or health professional
  • evidence you’ve registered a positive result from a home-administered RAT with your state health authority.

Check the full eligibility rules for Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment. When you’re ready to claim, use the Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment claim form.
