Apply for Medicare if you’re from Israel or the Occupied Palestinian Territories

Published: 5 September 2024

If you hold a Bridging Visa E with work rights, you may be able to get Medicare from 31 January 2024.

You can apply to enrol in Medicare either:

  • online through myGov
  • by completing a Medicare enrolment form.

We’ll begin processing these enrolment applications in mid-September.

If you get medical treatment in Australia before your enrolment is processed, keep your invoices and proof of payment.

If you receive a Medicare number, you can submit a claim and you may get a Medicare benefit for your treatment.

If your immediate family hold a Bridging Visa E, they may be able to get Medicare as well.

Find out more about Enrolling in Medicare if you’re a temporary resident covered by a Ministerial Order.
